What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Combat Overrun is a new action survival game - featuring an intense singleplayer mode - battling to survive an alien demonic invasion - also available to play cooperatively - and an online multiplayer first person shooter - featuring Deathmatch and Battle Royale - combining a strong first person shooter with vehicular combat and racing. Use tanks, cars, trucks and helicopters to your advantage to win the battle! We want to involve the community in the development of this title and believe that for many, being a part of the development of a new multiplayer game can be as much fun and as rewarding as playing the final game. We intend to listen to feedback and suggestions and tune the game and how its new game-mode is played, towards what the players want and like. We also, as a small indie developer, value the assistance and information sharing about common technical issues surrounding online multiplayer, such as bandwidth limits, lag compensation, data compression and lots more, that the community can and want to help us with. We want to build a positive and helpful community. We will offer the option to run your own servers, private or public, with admin password control for clan testing, and perks for running public servers, such as a direct feedback channel to the developer and being able to be the first to try out new features and improvements. More than anything we see Early Access as The Way to build a game like this, to become a really loved and much played game, with a vibrant community that is as much in control of servers and the game as we the developers are.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It is expected that this game will be in Early Access for one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are aiming to add more multiplayer maps, vehicles and weapons and most importantly achieve a polished and fun experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version represents a vertical slice of the game. We launch into Early Access with one large multiplayer map with Deathmatch and Battle Supreme game modes. The game features vehicles - cars, trucks, helicopters and tanks, all playable. A significant part of the gameplay is vehicle play, racing against each other to reach supply drops and other points of interest. The Early Access game features guns, submachine guns, automatic rifles, sniper rifles, grenades, and grenade and rocket launchers. Deathmatch and Battle Supreme game mode is fully playable and ready for tuning and further development inspired by community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price slightly as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to involve the community in the development of this title and believe that for many, being a part of the development of a new multiplayer game is as much fun and as rewarding as playing the final game.

We intend to listen to feedback and suggestions and tune the game play towards what the players want. We also, as a small indie developer, value the assistance and information-sharing about technical issues surrounding online multiplayer, such as bandwidth limits, lag compensation, data compression and encryption, anti-cheat functionality and lots more, that the community can and want to help us with.

We want to maintain a positive and helpful community, that especially in the early stages share workarounds and tips, while we crunch to implement solutions, to get everyone in the game. We will offer the opportunity to run private and public servers, with and without GPUs, and the opportunity for admins to set the rules they want, to only invite their friends and clan members for testing, or to run custom modes - as much as the testing environment at the time permits.”

About This Game

Combat Overrun is a new action survival game - featuring an intense singleplayer mode - battling to survive an alien demonic invasion - also available to play cooperatively - and an online multiplayer first person shooter - featuring Deathmatch and Battle Royale - combining a strong first person shooter with vehicular combat and racing. Use tanks, cars, trucks and helicopters to your advantage to win the battle!

The game features LAN and Internet multiplayer. If you are interested in getting involved in the community and are looking to run dedicated servers for yourself, your clan or friends, or even better - the public, please contact us.

The game is built around a brand new D3D12-only high-end graphics engine - generating massive detail on-the-fly using high-range displacement maps, realtime deformation and advanced material blending - reaching final output geometry density close to pixel precision, achieving a geometry generation and throughput rate in the 0.5 - 2 billions of triangles per second range on mid to high-end GPUs - while still targeting 60 fps minimum framerate on nVidia 1070 and upwards class GPUs. The technology represents a major shift in game content production, visual quality and world generation, being able to take full advantage of real-world scanned materials and displacement maps to generate the game world, including defining features and gameplay areas. The technology generates roads, tracks, caves and other game areas on-the-fly in real-time, using procedural systems to mold a raw input terrain map into a fully featured game map. This is a huge advantage for game content iteration times, game updates install sizes and enables variations of maps where a seed can be used to select a combination of roads, features and gameplay areas, keeping the gameplay and the challenges fresh.

Perhaps most importantly, for real advances in what really matters - gameplay - the graphics technology is coupled directly to the physics system, offering realistic physics environments with real materials with deformation, friction, traction and resistance for vehicles and all physics objects, resulting in more realistic, fun and challenging physics behavior. Vehicles and players cannot easily traverse all terrain and ground, cannot climb steep inclines without sufficient traction and can get stuck in mud and deep sand or water. This changes gameplay dramatically as just like in real life, one has to think about where to choose to go, and what the risks are to get stuck or hitting a dead end versus the potential reward of getting there faster by taking a shortcut.
